20th Ljubljana International Film Festival – LIFFe
20th Ljubljana International Film Festival was opened on 11 November at 20.00 in Linhart Hall of Cankarjev dom. The program of this year encompasses 106 films, out of which 15 are shorts. In Maribor 23 feature films will be screened.
Javad Ardakani, the Iranian director, attended Festival with film Handlebar Moustache. The film is about the purity of a child’s mind and the almost forgotten values. It aims at upholding the ancient Iranian sayings and customs that have almost disappeared with the advancement of society. Human values that once stood for the bases of society have been annihilated.
Mr. Ardakani is proud of the development the Iranian cinema has made within the last thirty years. Although the Iranian audiences are most interested in commercial films, comedies mostly, he believes in the value of films about humanity and cultural traditions.
Before his departure to Slovenia Mr. Ardakani visited Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tehran and with Kristina Radej Chargé d'Affaires examined opportunities for cooperation between Slovenian and Iranian film institutions.
